FROM THE BAILLI
Brewster Ellis

Welcome to the Kansas City Chapter of La Chaine des
Rotisseurs. The fact that we are the oldest international
wine and food society in the world, founded in France in 1248,
says much about our heritage. What it does not tell you is that
the Kansas City Chapter is devoted to promoting fine dining and
preserving the camaraderie and pleasures of the table. We are
committed to satisfying the tastes of our members with exquisite
food and first class wines while tempting their curiosity with
new cuisine and beverages, with tastings from around the world
and around the area. We also strive for an active interrelation
between amateurs and professionals who share a love of fine food
and wine. It is inspiring to see what insights and inspirations
this interaction can create. There are no limits that some of
our members will go to test the palates and push the boundaries
of fun and education.
Our membership consists of professionals, legislators, chefs,
restaurateurs, winemakers; the young and not so young; people
with well stocked cellars and people with a desire to someday
have a well stocked cellar. We support those who are
accomplished in their culinary skills and those that aspire to
be. We encourage, through our varied events, all to participate
in the venue and the theme; to make camaraderie a focal point of
our wonderful organization.
La Chaine offers the opportunity to meet people who share a
common interest in exploring and learning about fine food and
fine wine, and having fun doing so. In addition to La Chaine,
there is also a society within the society that is focused on
crafted beverages and spirits. It is called
L’Ordre Mondial des Gourmets
Degustateurs, which is a fancy way of describing a group
that enjoys learning about all sorts of crafted beverages, their
origins, their variety and what foods they can go with.
There are many other facets to La Chaine that you may wish to
explore. Come join us at one of our many functions. See for
yourself what a great group of people with a shared interest to
learn about food and wine can do and how much fun they have
doing it. Feel free to contact me or anyone of the officers. We
will gladly answer your questions. Prepare yourself to be caught
up in our gastronomic whirlwind of delight.
Vive La Chaine!
